About the Press

Academicon Press (Polish abbreviation: WA) is operated jointly by P.W. Idealit Robert Kryński and the Academicon Foundation. It publishes scholarly works as well as popular science and educational publications.

More information about Academicon Press is available here. A brief overview is provided below.

Points awarded

Pursuant to the announcement of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of 17 December 2019, Academicon Press was included in the official list of publishers of peer-reviewed scholarly monographs (Level I – 120 points).

Areas of specialisation

Academicon Press specialises in publications in the field of philosophy, but also publishes works representing other academic disciplines.

Academic and editorial standards

We make every effort to ensure that our publications meet the highest academic and editorial standards. To this end, we implement appropriate publishing procedures, including peer-review procedures, and adhere to the principles of publishing ethics. Compliance with these procedures and ethical standards is overseen, among others, by the Press’s Academic Advisory Board, which consists of distinguished scholars.

Our editorial quality rests on the careful selection of language editors and proofreaders, as well as on the typographically refined design of our publications, produced by our DTP Studio. We believe that high-quality content deserves an equally beautiful form.

Open-access policy

Academicon Press is implementing an open-access policy under which all scholarly monographs will be made available free of charge on the Press’s website. New publications will be released after a three-month embargo period under the Creative Commons Attribution–ShareAlike 4.0 International licence (see the full licence terms). This policy is consistent with the BOAI definition of open access.

For authors, this means that by submitting a manuscript to Academicon Press, they agree to the open-access policy outlined above.

Citability

The Academicon Press Open Monograph Press system (see below) is indexed by Google Scholar, which tracks citations. Every book published by Academicon Press is also listed in Google Books and on book-related online platforms. We continuously seek to have our publications included in additional scholarly monograph databases and repositories.

All these measures are intended to increase the visibility and citability of our authors’ work.

Publishing team

Our publishing team has many years of experience, during which we have contributed to the preparation of more than three hundred publications, including scholarly and popular science works, literary and educational publications, encyclopaedias, dictionaries, technical publications, art and illustrated books, newspapers, magazines, and commercial publications.

Our offer

Our services are intended for AUTHORS interested in publishing their work to a high editorial standard. We also welcome publishing collaborations with EDITORS of journals, book series, and edited volumes.

Traditional distribution

For readers who prefer traditional editions, we offer printed books through standard bookselling channels. We regularly provide legal-deposit copies to the libraries designated by law (see the list of libraries). Printed editions of books published by Academicon Press can be ordered from our online bookshop.

Academicon Press Open Monograph Press system (WA @ OMP)

Academicon Press uses Open Monograph Press (OMP) to manage its publishing workflow. OMP is an online platform for managing the publishing process and publishing books. This means that all stages of the publishing process are conducted through OMP: from submission, through internal assessment and peer review, language editing and proofreading, to production of the final publication file, including typesetting, page layout, and graphic design.

Authors, academic editors, reviewers, language editors, proofreaders, and DTP specialists submit and process manuscripts by registering and signing in to the system.

OMP also serves as a platform for presenting publications and as a digital repository. Publications are supplied with comprehensive metadata and indexed by scholarly search engines and bibliometric services such as Google Scholar. This not only makes them easier to find and access but also enables their citations to be tracked.

Submitting a publication

To submit a publication to Academicon Press, you must create an account in the Press’s OMP system. To do so, click the “Register” link, which is also available at the top of the homepage.

Authors who already have an account on our website should sign in before submitting their publication.

We encourage prospective authors to consult our Author Guidelines, which explain how to prepare and submit a publication that meets the requirements of Academicon Press.
