Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission file is in the Microsoft Word, RTF, or OpenDocument file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Press.

Author Guidelines

1. Monographs

A scholarly monograph, as defined in the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of 22 February 2019 on the evaluation of the quality of academic activity, is a peer-reviewed book-length publication that presents a specific research issue in an original and creative manner and includes footnotes, a bibliography, or other scholarly apparatus appropriate to the relevant academic discipline.

The following also qualify as scholarly monographs, provided that they have been peer-reviewed and include footnotes, a bibliography, or other scholarly apparatus appropriate to the relevant discipline:

  • a translation into Polish of a work of importance to scholarship or culture;
  • a translation into another modern language of a work of importance to scholarship or culture originally published in Polish;
  • a scholarly edition of source texts.

During the submission process, the monograph file should be uploaded in one of the following formats: DOC, DOCX, ODT, or RTF.

The file should contain at least the following elements:

  • title;
  • table of contents;
  • main text, including an introduction, conclusion, and bibliography;
  • abstract in Polish;
  • abstract in English.

The monograph file must not contain any information that could reveal the author’s identity. The author’s full name, academic degree or title, institutional affiliation (university, institute), email address, ORCID iD, and a short biographical note of up to 800 characters, including spaces, should be provided in a separate document entitled “Author’s Personal Details.”

Text formatting should be kept to a minimum. The document should use the following settings:

  • page size: A4;
  • margins: standard;
  • typeface: Times New Roman;
  • main text: 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing;
  • footnotes: 10 pt, single line spacing.

Emphasis in the text should be indicated using italics.

References and citations should follow APA 7th edition style. See Basic Editorial Standards for Polish-Language Scholarly Texts in Psychology Based on APA Rules, particularly Chapter 2, “Citations,” and Chapter 8, “Reference List.”

An important addition to the above requirement: every full bibliographic reference included in the reference list must contain the publication’s DOI, where available, presented as a complete URL.

In justified cases, Academicon Press accepts other bibliographic styles recommended by the National Library of Poland and respects the conventions established within individual academic disciplines.

2. Articles and chapters in multi-author works

A scholarly article, as defined in the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of 22 February 2019 on the evaluation of the quality of academic activity, is a peer-reviewed article published in an academic journal or in peer-reviewed proceedings of an international academic conference. It must present a specific research issue in an original and creative, problem-oriented, or cross-sectional manner and include footnotes, a bibliography, or other scholarly apparatus appropriate to the relevant academic discipline.

A review article published in an academic journal included in the official list of journals also qualifies as a scholarly article. Editorials, abstracts, extended abstracts, letters, errata, and editorial notes do not qualify as scholarly articles.

During the submission process, the manuscript file should be uploaded in one of the following formats: DOC, DOCX, ODT, or RTF.

The file should contain at least the following elements:

  • title;
  • main text of the article;
  • abstract in Polish, containing at least 1,200 characters including spaces;
  • abstract in English;
  • at least three keywords in Polish;
  • at least three keywords in English;
  • a complete reference list arranged alphabetically.

The abstract should describe the scope and purpose of the text and present its principal arguments, findings, or discoveries. It should not read like an excerpt from the article. A metalinguistic style is recommended: the abstract should describe the text rather than directly discuss the subject addressed in it.

The manuscript file must not contain any information that could reveal the author’s identity. The author’s full name, academic degree or title, institutional affiliation (university, institute), email address, ORCID iD, and a short biographical note of up to 800 characters, including spaces, should be provided in a separate document entitled “Author’s Personal Details.”

The manuscript must not exceed one author’s sheet, i.e. 40,000 characters including spaces, equivalent to approximately 22 standard manuscript pages.

References and citations should follow APA 7th edition style. See Basic Editorial Standards for Polish-Language Scholarly Texts in Psychology Based on APA Rules, particularly Chapter 2, “Citations,” and Chapter 8, “Reference List.”

The document containing the author’s personal details must also include the following declarations:

I declare that the submitted manuscript is my original work and that my rights to it are not subject to any restrictions.

I declare that the submitted manuscript has not previously been published and is not currently under consideration by another publisher.

I declare that I have identified all persons who contributed to the preparation of the manuscript and that no person who did not make a substantial contribution has been named as an author. I therefore confirm that the manuscript does not involve ghost authorship, guest authorship, or honorary authorship. I am also aware of the legal and academic consequences of making a false declaration.

I declare that I have disclosed all material sources of funding for the submitted manuscript.

I declare that I hereby transfer to Academicon Press the economic copyright in the work submitted together with this declaration. The economic copyright is transferred in respect of all fields of exploitation, including in particular those specified in Article 50 of the Act on Copyright and Related Rights:

  1. With regard to recording and reproducing the work: producing copies of the work by any specified means, including printing, reprographic reproduction, magnetic recording, and digital technology.
  2. With regard to trading in the original or copies on which the work has been recorded: placing the original or copies on the market and lending or renting them.
  3. With regard to disseminating the work by means other than those specified in point 2: public performance, exhibition, display, presentation, broadcasting, and rebroadcasting, as well as making the work available to the public in such a way that anyone may access it at a place and time of their choosing.
