The Musical Connectome. Essays in Bioaesthetics

Anna Chęćka is a graduate of the piano class at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk (diploma with distinction in 1998), holds a habilitation in humanities (philosophy), is a professor at the Institute of Philosophy of the University of Gdańsk, and heads the Department of Aesthetics and Philosophy of Culture. She has published the following books: Dysonanse krytyki [Dissonances of Criticism], Gdańsk 2008, Ucho i myśli. Szkice o doświadczaniu muzyki [Ear and Mind. Sketches on the Experience of Music], Gdańsk 2012, A jak Apollo. Biografia Alfreda Cortota [A is for Apollo: The Biography of Alfred Cortot], Warsaw 2019, and Słuch metafizyczny, Warsaw 2020. The latter book has been translated into English and published by the NIFC as Metaphysical Hearing, Warsaw 2021. She publishes in journals such as Ruch Muzyczny as a critic and essayist. Currently, she combines the humanities with neuroaesthetics and neurobiology. In 2020, she founded the interdisciplinary research group Neurobiology of Music Study Group, which operates at the Institute of Philosophy of the University of Gdańsk and promotes intergenerational collaboration.
