Mind maps in the Land of Neurons. Training program for children and teenagers
Keywords:

Mind Maps in the Land of Neurons is a proposal of 25 interesting classes that can be carried out with primary school students (IV–VIII), including students with special educational needs during an hour with their tutor.
The aim of these meetings is to support the development of divergent thinking by introducing children to the Map mind method by Buzan (2007) and the processes of neuroplasticity. The ability of brain nerve cells to create new networks of connections with other neurons is related to the quality of information processing, which will be manifested in the processes of learning and remembering (Pąchalska, Kaczmarek & Kropotov, 2014). Knowing how these processes work will enable students to supervise their own learning, and the use of Mind Maps will also affect their effectiveness in this area. Because these graphical forms of notes present the most important issues and the relationship between them. It also seems important that they are used both in education and therapy, and they are also recommended for students with special educational needs (Chen, Xiao, & Lin, 2018; Wu & Wu, 2020; Kajka & Kulik, 2021).
Available scientific research shows that by regularly using Mind Maps, students strengthen their memory, critical thinking, reflectivity and emotional and motivational self-regulation. In addition, they have more creative associations, which affects the speed of processing new information. Training the ability to select information and arrange it on the Mind Map in a way that makes it easier for students to control the material can also be added to important benefits. This and many other benefits indicate that it is worth reaching for this training program, which successfully fits into the trend of brain-friendly science, neuropsychology and psychotherapy.
